Troy Olds started his Building Surveying career in 1996 and has been with Tecon Australia since 2008.
Troy is multi-skilled across a wide range of components of the development industry, including Building Surveying, Fire Engineering and Urban and Regional Planning. To expand his skills Troy has obtained qualifications in disability access. Troy is in his element working on complex projects that demand the application of his many skills, and he manages a wide range of tasks throughout all the states Tecon is active in.
Troy’s professional experience equips him with the skills needed to take on projects encompassing every facet of building and development, from modest domestic additions to landmark multi-storey apartments and commercial complexes.
As part of his commitment to the profession of Building Surveying, Troy is a Director of the Australian Institution of Building Surveyors having been the State President for 6 years only recently stepping down from the role. In November 2018 Troy was elected National President of the Institute. Troy has been involved with the SA Chapter board since 2003, occupying key roles such as Secretary, Vice President as well State Conference Convenor. In 2016, Troy was recognized for his commitment to the profession receiving the AIBS Service to Building Surveying Award. In 2018 Troy was awarded Fellow of AIBS.

Gary has more than 25 years’ experience in the industry. Over the course of his career, Gary has developed a sound and proficient understanding of land use planning and development as well as Building Surveying and Construction practices.
Gary’s extensive experience has seen him taking lead roles in delivering or managing numerous projects for a range of significant commercial, residential, retail and infrastructure developments for both public and private sector clients. With qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning and Building Surveying Gary brings to Tecon a broad and diverse range of skills and experience to assist clients through all stages of development.
Gary has acted as an expert witness in both Building and Town Planning appeals through the State Administrative Tribunal and has developed strong working relationships within both state and Local Government sectors. Gary‘s passion and commitment for the profession has seen him taking a lead role in the AIBS as a past WA delegate to the AIBS National Board.

Kirk commenced his career in building surveying in 2008. In 2013, he joined the Tecon team as a member of their Adelaide office whilst also providing additional support to the Northern Territory. In more recent times Kirk’s focus has moved across to managing Northern Territory projects and providing high level outcomes to a diverse client base.
As Manager for the Northern Territory, Kirk acts as the Airport Building Controller for both Darwin International and Alice Springs Airports. Focused on his professional development, Kirk has completed postgraduate studies in Urban Planning, Business Administration and in 2021, a Certificate IV in Access Consulting. These studies have equipped him with a well rounded knowledge of the development process ensuring he is able to provide a quality service to his clients whilst also providing him with additional skills associated with business operations, strategy and process management.
Kirk is a registered Building Certifier (Unrestricted) in the Northern Territory and has previously been registered as a Private Certifier in South Australia. With an ability to acquire registration across jurisdictions he will continue to support Troy Olds and Tecon’s other offices into the future.

David’s experience within the construction industry spans a period of over thirty-five years, transitioning from a trade background to practising as a Building Surveyor in 2002.
For the past nineteen years he has worked in the building surveying field reaching the senior management level within local government in WA and in a private consultancy capacity both in Tasmania and Western Australia.
During this time David has been involved as a Building Surveyor bringing a practical approach and technical knowledge to all components of projects within the residential sector and in many large-scale commercial, residential (multi-storey) and multi-unit developments involving a broad range of end uses.
David has extensive experience in providing a full range of building surveying services for all classes of projects from design assessment to regulatory certification and endeavours to provide a high-quality service not just certifying plans at the completion of a design process but providing valuable input, advice and support encompassing key design criteria from initial concept through to project completion.

Ben joined Tecon in 2015 following completion of academic studies and prior years in trade-based roles within the construction industry in South Australia and the Northern Territory.
Since commencing at Tecon, Ben has gained a wide range of experience in the building surveying profession in both South Australian & Western Australian jurisdictions. From bespoke residential developments to multi-storey residential and commercial buildings, Ben has a strong understanding of legislative building code and development approval requirements. In addition to building surveying and private certification roles, Ben has provided consultancy services to multiple LGA building departments and State Government departments in the form of audit inspections, senior support, BRC assessment and staff training.
As a Building Surveyor (unlimited) and having a keen interest in all facets of the construction industry, Ben aims to provide clients with effective and efficient service throughout the Development Approval process.

Jackson joined Tecon in 2021 following 7 years working as a building surveyor in local government. He joined the team with a vast knowledge of local government legislation experience as well as both assessment and inspection experience for both residential and commercial projects.
Since commencing at Tecon, Jackson has gained further experience within the residential sector as well as broadening his knowledge within commercial projects. Jackson has a strong understanding of legislative building code and development approval requirements. In addition to building assessment services for proposed developments, Jackson has provided both an in-person and external consultancy service to multiple LGA building departments within the regional and metropolitan areas.
Jackson aims to provide clients with the advice and service required to achieve development approval for their project.

Having previously worked in construction, Taraqual commenced his career in building surveying in 2019 with the Muswellbrook Shire Council in regional NSW. Working in Local Government provided Taraqual with a solid grounding in building surveying whilst requiring him to provide a high standard of customer service to clients and the community.
During his time with Muswellbrook, Taraqual gained experience in the inspection and assessment of a wide range of buildings including residential, commercial and industrial structures.
Taraqual joins the Tecon team in the Darwin office and is looking forward to the opportunity to enhance his knowledge in the above sectors.

Jon started with Tecon in 2020 as a cadet before completing his bachelor’s the following year, specialising in Project Management and Building Surveying.
Since commencing at Tecon, Jon has had a wide exposure to projects within South Australia and is quickly developing his expertise in the building surveying profession. Jon has worked closely with our clients to deliver numerous projects including low to high density residential developments, multi-storey bespoke dwellings and small-scale commercial projects. Experienced with construction in bushfire and noise affected areas, Jon has a strong understanding of the legislative building code and development approval requirements. In addition to building surveying and private certification roles, Jon has provided consultancy services to multiple LGA building departments in the form of BRC assessments, Development Approvals, Performance Solutions, Support and Training.
Jon’s main focus has been towards domestic building works, but with exposure to all building classifications he strives to provide all our clients with quality advice and efficient service throughout the entire development approval process of any project.

Kristy has over 15 years extensive professional planning experience in the private sector. Working in the private sector has enabled Kristy to work alongside Civil Engineers and Project Managers and specialist sub consultants for the most part of her career. This has led to a vast understanding of the Land Development Industry as a whole and not just the planning process.
Kristy’s past and current portfolio of projects includes region and local planning scheme amendments, large scale structure planning, multi-story development applications, design guidelines, subdivision and development from rural land development to industrial and urban developments across regional Western Australia. Her particular area of expertise is in statutory planning in the Southwest.

Millie’s diverse background experience in State Government and Building Surveying have earned her significant expertise in interpreting and applying legislation. Since commencing her career in Building Surveying, Millie has gained exposure to a range of projects fulfilling the State’s strategic initiatives for new developments across South Australia. She is a visual and practical thinker passionate about safety in the built environment.
Outside of Building Surveying, Millie has demonstrated strong communication and creative problem-solving skills that have gained her recognition at the Flinders University New Venture Institute, rewarding her as a semi-finalist in innovation.
Millie’s combination of skills and experience in Building Surveying, architecture, and strategic design position her as a well-rounded professional able to provide valuable insights and expertise in various stages of a project from preliminary compliance advice through to building assessment and approval.

Kamil started his journey in building surveying in 2020 at a private company in South Australia where he was exposed to a wide range of building works applications. After his initial exposure in the private sector, Kamil joined the Alexandrina Council as a building surveyor and an informal member of the Alexandrina Council Building Fire Safety Committee. Due to his work ethic, he was then promoted to the position of senior building surveyor.
As a result of his combined experience with the private sector and local government, he has a firm understanding of the relevant legislation pertaining to development in South Australia and has experience with assessments and inspections of both domestic and commercial building works.
Kamil is passionate about building safety, particularly building fire safety. He is motivated in assisting clients with understanding the requirements of building works.
Since joining Tecon, Kamil’s main role has been to assist the NT team, and as such, he has now familiarised himself with the NT Building Act and Regulations. He has been exposed to several larger building assessments including hospitals, works on Airport Land, as well as alterations to an existing multistorey hotel in Darwin.

Kate began working in the Construction industry in 2010 as a contract administrator and scheduler/estimator for both residential and commercial building companies. In 2017 she transitioned into the private certification industry as a Building Surveyor.
With 5 years of experience as a private Building surveyor, she has consulted and certified a wide range of projects including multi-story mixed use projects, residential developments, commercial, industrial, schools and daycare centres.
